Chongqing Goes on Display in Dusseldorf, Germany

On December 11, the “Experiencing China 2017 — Chongqing Going to Germany” event kicked off in Dusseldorf, Germany. On that day, two promotional events were held for Chongqing’s economic industry and Shapingba District, with the participation of nearly 100 German enterprises.
Over the past decade, “Experiencing China” has been successfully held in more than 40 countries including the US and France under the sponsorship of the State Council Information Office. Guided by the State Council Information Office of China and sponsored by the Information Office of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, the “Experiencing China 2017 — Chongqing Going to Germany” features the photo and video exhibitions of “Chongqing Time” and is aimed to facilitate the communication with German organizations such as the Dusseldorf Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the mutual cooperation and sharing of information in economy, culture, science, technology, education and tourism between the two cities.
Officials who attended and addressed the promotional meeting included Feng Haiyang, General Consul of Chinese Consulate General in Dusseldorf, Ms. Silke Besser, General Manager of German-Chinese Business Association, and Prof. Gerhard Eichbaum, Deputy President of and Director of the Department of Foreign Trade of the Dusseldorf Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Also, Peng Heliang, Deputy Director of Chongqing Commerce Commission, introduced the city’s strategy of becoming a domestic leader of inland opening-up and the project of China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity, as well as the basic information about China (Chongqing) Pilot Free Trade Zone. And Hu Yi, Deputy Head of Shapingba District Government and Director of the Management Committee of Chongqing Logistics City, also introduced Chongqing Logistics City.
Nearly 100 German enterprises participated in the events, including automobile sellers and China-oriented importers, exporters and agents, as well as hospitals and training institutions. Most of them showed a strong interest in Chongqing.
“This event takes place at the right time with well-defined objectives,” said Feng Haiyang in his address. Silke Besser, General Manager of German-Chinese Business Association, said: “The most impressive part of the promotional event is Chongqing’s support in economy and logistics. For many German enterprise representatives here, it’s their first time to know Chongqing as a Chinese metropolis with so many possibilities of investment and trade.”
