World Tourism Cities Federation Chongqing Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit 2016 Opened in Chongqing
On September 19, World Tourism Cities Federation Chongqing Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit 2016, jointly organized by World Tourism Cities Federation and Chongqing Municipal People's Government, was opened in Chongqing Yuelai International Convention Center. And this summit was themed “Sharing Economy and the Development of World Tourism Cities”.
The guests who attended the opening ceremony included Tegegnework Gettu, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations; Wang Anshun, President of the Council of World Tourism Cities Federation, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Beijing; Huang Qifan, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Chongqing.
Tegegnework Gettu pointed out in the speech that tourism has become an important pillar for the world economy, which directly or indirectly created hundreds of millions of jobs every year. In recent years, Asian countries, under the vigorous development, are becoming important tourist destinations. We must establish a sustainable development concept to promote the development of tourism. Tourism cities have always been the most popular tourist destinations. There are not only traditional tourism cities like Beijing and Paris, but also the emerging tourism cities like Chongqing. And tourism offers a strong push to the development of cities. This summit is expected to promote the sustainable development of both tourism cities and tourism industry.
Wang Anshun said that tourism is an important way for people to long for and pursue a better life as well as touch new things and the unknown world. Right now, with the booming development of "Internet plus" and sharing economy, supply and consumption patterns of tourism services are undergoing the profound changes. So it must be the right time to theme this summit “Sharing Economy and the Development of World Tourism Cities”. We hope that through this summit, we can make a further discussion about the impact of sharing economy on tourism industry, effectively promote resource sharing and collaborative development among world tourism cities, as well as continuously improve the service ability and level of World Tourism Cities Federation.
Huang Qifan said that nowadays, tourism has become a pillar industry for countries to enrich the country and the people. Since 30 years of reform and opening up, China's tourism industry has been developed rapidly and Chongqing also enjoyed a lot of benefits from that. Tourism has become the new important economic impetus for Chongqing economy to go steadily in the fast lane. In the following five years, Chongqing will foster tourism as the comprehensive strategic pillar industry, and vigorously build up "City of Mountains and Rivers, Beautiful and Charming Chongqing", so as to make Chongqing an internationally renowned tourist destination.
This summit provided a new opportunity for Chongqing to accelerate the development of tourism. Chongqing would like to work with international tourism organizations, member cities of states and relevant tourist agencies to promote "Better Tourism, Better City Life".
There was also an initiation ceremony for new members and a launch ceremony for the investment club of World Tourism Cities Federation.
It was learnt that, during the summit, delegates on the forum would have in-depth and extensive discussions on a series of current hot issues in the world such as the opportunities and challenges of sharing economy on the development of tourism cities, sharing economy and the construction of an international tourist destination in Chongqing, urban resource allocation & global tourism and the innovation & transformation of tourism in the era of sharing economy. In addition, a series of exchanges and tourist destination product promotions would be held during the summit to promote the cooperation between member cities and tourism-related enterprises.
