Chongqing Specifies the List of the Third Batch of Precious Ancient Books and Key Protection Units of Ancient Books

On September 11, the 61th Executive Meeting of Chongqing Municipality was presided over by Mayor Huang Qifan and at the meeting the Circular on the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government Announcing the List of Precious Ancient Books and the Third Batch of Key Protection Units of Ancient Books in Chongqing was deliberated and approved. The meeting required that counties (autonomous counties) and relevant departments shall make greater efforts and further improve the work related to the protection, management and rational utilization of precious ancient books.
A total of 359 kinds of ancient books are included into the List of the Third Batch of Precious Ancient Books in Chongqing, covering five major categories with diversified versions, ranging from handwritten copy, carving copy, block-printing copy, overprinted copy to movable printed copy. These precious ancient books include, the only existing handwritten copy of Jianda Tadu in Qian Jiang Library, a Thai version in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,, Xiaosu Memorial in Chongqing Library, a carving copy of Zhengtong in Ming Dynasty, Scriptures of All Eminent Monks, a carving copy from government in the 15th year of the reign of Emperor Yongle of the Ming Dynasty, Chuang-tzu in the library of Southwest University, a version of block-printing copy from Shi De Tang owned by Gu Chun from Wujun in the 12th year of the reign of Emperor Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty and Anthology of Li Yishan in Fuling District Library, a overprinted copy of four-color in the 9th year of the reign of Emperor Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty from Cuishu, Guangzhou. Jiangjin Library, founded in 1934, was one of the early civilians’ libraries with a collection of 12,922 copies of ancient books and this time it is listed as the key protection unit of ancient books.
Besides, the meeting discussed the issue of increasing the proportion of state-owned capital gains under Chongqing State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission and Report on the Legal Environment for Enterprises’ Development and Chongqing Water Resources Management Regulations (Revised Draft) were discussed during the meeting, which have been submitted for review.
Weng Jieming, the Deputy Mayor, along with He Ting, Wu Gang, Zhang Ming, Chen Heping, Liu Qiang, Tan Jialing and Liu Wei attended the meeting.
