International Philanthropist Kenneth E Behring Becomes A Honorary Citizen of Chongqing

On July 24, the 4th session of the 4th Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal People's Congress discussed and approved the proposal on awarding Kenneth E Behring the title of "Honorary Citizen of Chongqing".
 
Kenneth E Behring is an American who was born in 1928. He has built hundreds of communities in the United States and was included among the Top 400 Global Rich List of both Fortune and Forbes three times. After being successful in career, Behring turned his direction to dedicate himself to international charity. He founded Wheelchair Foundation in 2000 and Global Health & Education Foundation in 2005 and served as chairman of both organizations.
 
In November last year, Behring signed an agreement with Chongqing Museum of Natural History to donate more than 200 pieces of specimens of rare animals, worth over 100 million RMB. So far, more than 100 pieces of specimens have been transferred to Chongqing Museum of Natural History, while the rest will be delivered in succession before the end of 2013.
 
Wheelchair Foundation founded by Behring has donated over 900,000 wheelchairs to the disabled from over 150 countries in the world, and the recipients in China account for one third. By the end of 2012, the total value of wheelchairs donated by the foundation to the disabled in Chongqing exceeded 1.2 million RMB.
 
At present, Behring is attempting to provide assistances to the completion and opening of Chongqing Museum of Natural History and is planning to select Chongqing as the host city of the global finals of Global Natural History Day™ in 2014.
 
Moreover, Behring is an expert on construction of senior citizen communities in the United States. Now, he also has the intention to cooperate with Chongqing to introduce the mature senior citizen community model from the USA to Chongqing and to set up a gerontological nursing institute to train professional nurses for caring for the senior citizens.
